The researcher used qualitative research techniques combined with observation methods.Meanwhile, to analyze the data, the researcher used McCarthy & O'Dell's(2010) theory to specify the type of expression and Leech's (1981) theory to describe the meaning presented in the idiomatic expressions. The result discovered 18 data that belong to idiom expressions, with details: fixed statements (14), trinomials (3), and prepositional phrases (1). Each idiom expression has its specific meaning, which aims to enable the audience to understand the true meaning. Faradilla, Aina Noor Ade

his research aims to explore the image of the children as it is constructed by the educational institution particularly by the teachers in the novel Matilda. This research is a descriptive qualitative study with applies the theory of imagology by Milan Kundera and the image of the child by Loris Malaguzzi. This research used the close textual analysis method to describe and analyze the meaning, structure, and function contained in the text. The result of this research shows that the different images of the children constructed by two teacher characters of the novel. The image of the children constructed by Miss Honey is that the children are innocent, potential, and dependent. While the image of the children constructed by Mrs. Trunchbull is that children are a source of trouble, disgusting, disturbing, and should not exist in the world. Based on the image of the children constructed by Miss Honey and Mrs. Trunchbull, these two teacher figures show different behaviors when they interact with children. Miss Honey tends to pay special attention to children, teach them new things in a fun way, and be open to children. While Mrs. Trunchbull shows abusive behavior in children such as shouting, cursing, and giving harsh punishments to children. Therefore, based on the results of research conducted, it can be concluded that the image of children is not always the same in the eyes of everyone and the image they construct in children affects the way they treat children.

Narrative Functions of Ecology in The Novel Aroma Karsa by Dee Lestari
Ali, Ahmad Jum’a Khatib Nur
Astuti, Retno Budi
aroma karsa; literary ecology; narrative function; sphere of action
Nature and Literature have a related meaning relationship. Ecological aspects paradigmatically can have a role in telling the story of literary works. This study aims to determine the narrative functions of ecology in the novel Aroma Karsa. The method of this study is a narrative analysis with a literary ecology approach in the ontological, epistemological and axiological scope focusing on the characters’ narrative functions. The data are obtained through the documentation process, which is in-depth reading; with the aim of identifying, classifying and categorizing the story based on the concept of the narrative function by Vladimir Propp. The results of the study identify four characters who ontologically have a strong relation to the ecological aspects of the story, namely; Sangyang Batari Karsa/Puspa Karsa, Jati Wesi/Randu, Tanaya Suma/Malini, and Raras Prayugung. Epistemologically, it is known that Aroma Karsa (1) builds perception of the cultural environment and ideal environmental criteria, and (2) enriches the ecological knowledge of the readers. Axiologically, Aroma Karsa mutually reveals the symbolic relationship of nature with the readers’ cultural receptions related to myths, medications, fragrances, gender and cleanliness. There are 5 spheres of action (villain, hero, helper, false hero, princess) out of 7 with 24 supporting functions on 4 identified characters. The mechanism of narrative function uses special personage in the form of character condensation to convey the premise of the story. The mechanism of the narrative function is centered on Puspa Karsa who becomes the symbol of ecocentric narrative in the novel Aroma Karsa.

Gerda's Character as the Influence of Lili's Transition in The Danish Girl Film
Herlinda, Septi
Character Analysis; Gender Transition; Personality; Supporting Character.
This research aims to show how Gerda Wegener, as a supporting character in The Danish Girl film could give the biggest contribution into the main character’s transition from Einar Wegener (male) to Lili Elbe (female) through Gerda’s character and personality depicted in the film. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. To support the analysis, the writer uses the theory of the Big Five personality factors, characterization, and altruism. The result of this research shows that Gerda’s character and personality are found to be the main cause of the conflict that occurred in the film, on how the main character, Einar Wegener in overcoming his gender dyphoria to fully transformed into a woman named Lili Elbe. This research discovered that, based on the Big Five personality factors; Gerda’s personality in agreeableness and openness are highly relatable in influencing Lili’s transition. Moreover, Gerda’s behavior in altruism is also found to be the main reason on why she chose to support the main character’s gender transition despite the huge loss upon her. In conclusion, Gerda Wegener as a supporting character played the biggest role in stirring the plot by her influence in supporting Einar Wegener’s gender transition. It also shows that it is possible for someone to be so selfless when it comes to the person they adore. Finally, it gives a new perspective on how significant the role of a supporting characters are in a film based on their character and personality.

The Absence of Parents and Psychopathic Disorder in Dismissed Movie
Natania, Hana Kapila
Dismissed, Obsession, Parents, Absence, Psychoanalysis, Psychopathic.
This study aims to discover the psychopath characteristics of the main character, Lucas, as depicted in the movie Dismissed, and investigate how Lucas’ obsession, which makes him a psychopath, is related to the absence of parents. The qualitative descriptive analysis method is used in analyzing the data. Data is collected by watching, understanding, identifying, interpreting, and analyzing data from the Dismissed movie. Thi study uses psychoanalytic theory by Sigmund Freud and psychopathic personality disorder by Robert D Hare. This study reveals that the absence of parents during Lucas’ developmental period can wreak havoc on the manifestation of psychological disturbance in Lucas. Lucas has a psychopathic personality disorder. His psychopathic problem makes him a killer to gain his excessive obsession to get an “A†from his teacher. The writer concludes that Lucas’ psychopathic problem is convincingly connected to parental absence. Lucas experienced imperfect psychosexual development, resulting in fixation at the phallic stage due to the death of his mother and the lack of intense bonding between Lucas and his father as his role model. Lucas becomes a person who has an excessive obsession, has poor behavior control, has no empathy, and has no remorse and guilt. When dealing with trauma and anxiety, Lucas’ ego uses projection as a defense mechanism. He projects the longingness for his mother figure to other women he kills. Therefore, his psychopathic behavior is a means he does to substitute and reduce the anxiety and trauma of parental absence in his life.

Cultural Hegemony in J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Series
Farda, Shalih Dzakiyyah
Hegemony; manipulation; ideology; imposition
This article discusses the issue of politics and hegemony in Harry Potter, a fantasy series by British author J. K. Rowling. The work is apparently coded with class systems and hierarchy in its society, and how it can be seen as a reflection of real-life society. It explores how the ruling group tries to keep the power only on the hands of the few by inserting their views and ideologies to their people, and thus resulting into a certain status quo that the ruling group finds desirable. The seven novels of Harry Potter are analysed through Marxist perspective using Antonio Gramsci’s theory of Cultural Hegemony, in which the people in power impose and spread their ideas to those below them as a way to control them. It is concluded that the series also involves criticisms on class domination, corruption on power, and rebellion.
